What do you do when the freezer, freezes!!?
We have had to work in different warehouse situations due to liquids. We have had to extract water, sewage and even cooking oil. However, this job was a bit different. The water was frozen!
A sprinkler head was accidentally broken off and pumped a great deal of water (which quickly turned to ice) into this companies’ main frozen food freezer. Ice was up to an 1" thick in areas.
This job required a lot of effort working in a very difficult environment, which was -10 degrees below zero and very slippery. We needed to use a large scraper and had to learn to drive it on ice! It was kind of like driving a Zamboni only much, much colder!!
For most of our guys, it was just another job that needed to get done. To our customer, it was extremely difficult. They needed to find a company who could get the job done, while keeping the freezer operating to meet their customers demand, without alerting their competitors that they had a problem!! The customer knew that we were creative in developing solutions to tough problems, like cleaning up the oil spill. That is what got them do sign up with us. The fact that we didn’t “run from the job” after we started really impressed the customer! They told us “We thought you were crazy for taking on the job, but we knew you were the real deal when you stayed on the job after realizing it was going to be harder than we originally planned!!”
